Baby's Birth Flower15-01-2010We'll say it once more: you can literally use flowers for EVERY
occasion. It is gaining popularity to use a flower variety for the month the
baby is born. Just like someone's horoscope, it's suggested that the baby's
character depends on his birth month. His character is symbolized by a
flower. Currently, my sister-in-law is pregnant of her first baby. The baby
is due to be born in May, so I just checked what flower is connected to
this month: the lily-of-the-valley (convallaria) and the hawthorn.
I'm glad to learn that the baby has the characteristics of sweetness,
humility, fertility and hope. That's certainly
nice to know: no bad features so far. It's not that I believe in predicting a someone's personallity based
on the month the baby is born, but I do find it interesting to see if people
close to you match the expected profile. If you think this is interesting
too, just go ahead and see for yourself what flower characterizes you. January The first month of the year is symbolized by carnations or
snowdrops in the colours black, dark blue or red. This symbolizes
fascination, devoted love / consolation and a friend in adversity.
I have a friend called Dennis. He's quite chubby and fascinated
by and devoted to eating. So far, it seems the system
works! February If you are born in February, your birth flower is the violet or
primrose in the colours violet, sky blue or yellow. This symbolizes
modesty, faithfulness, virtue / young love.
Another sister-in-law of mine had a relation for 10 years starting when
she was only 16 years old (young love), but she ran away with another man
last year. I'm afraid I've found the first crack in the system... March Daffodils or jonquils are connected to March. The
colour is white or light blue. The baby will have the characteristics of
regard, devotion / affection returned and sympathy. One of my three brothers is born in March. He certainly has my regard
and sympathy. I'm not sure if I would call him devoted to
anything though, since he's a lazy bugger. Maybe I should call him devoted
to drinking beer. April April is symbolized by daisies or sweet peas in the
colours red, yellow and white. This stands for innocence, youth, purity,
blissful pleasure and departure.
My father is born in the month April and I do not think any of the above
mentioned words matches his personality. Maybe they got the month wrong
when hew was born? May As I mentioned before, May is symbolized by lily-of-the-valley or
hawthorn with the colours yellow, red and green. The meaning of
these flowers is sweetness, humility, fertility
and hope. My brother is the one who's responsible for my sister-in-laws pregnancy,
so I think he's at least fertile. I'll test this one again when
my sister-in-law gave birth. June This is the month of the rose or the honeysuckle in
the colours light blue, white and cream. This stands for love and
devoted affection. My grandfather was born in June. He had a warm hearth and was married
for more then 60 years. That's a clear match! July Larkspur (delphinium) or the water lily are connected
to the month July. The colours of this month are green, russet and red.
It symbolizes laughter and purity of heart. My final and oldest brother was born in July. Even though he's more
a laughing on the inside-kind of person, so I'll count that as
a match too. August August is the month of gladiolas or poppy's and the
colours orange, red and light green. This stands for strength of character,
sincerity, generosity, natural grace / eternal sleep, imagination
and oblivion. This is my and Matthijs', my colleague, month of birth. I can say in
full sincerity that the characteristics mentioned above describe us perfectly!
Or am I just having a lot of imagination? September Aster or morning glory are Septembers flowers. In
combination with the colours brown and deep blue, this results in a symbol
of love, daintiness / talisman of love and affection. One of my closest friends is born in September and I don't think he's
a 100% symbol of love. Actually, I wouldn't even give him 1%. October The 10th month of the year is connected to the calendula or
cosmos. This months' colours are white and yellow, which stands
for joy and modesty. I suddenly think about one of my friends from the past. He always had
the biggest mouth and couldn't stop speaking about himself. Birth month:
October... November November is the month of the chrysanthemum, one of my favourites.
The months colours are dark blue, red and yellow. This symbolizes cheerfulness,
you're a wonderful friend, rest, loveliness, abundance and wealth.
My girlfriend is born in October. Most of the named characteristics
do match, but she only wishes she was wealthy to afford her shopping sprees. December The last month of the years flowers are narcissus or holly.
The colours are indigo, green and greenish-blue, which symbolizes
stay as sweet as you are, egotism, formality, foresight and good
wishes.
The good wishes are probably because of the New Year coming
up, so I can understand that choice. I'm not sure why the narcissus for
egotism was chosen. If the system did work, I'd always try to have the
baby not to be born in December! Back
