Spotlight flower: the pink rose22-01-2009
In
the flower business we always have to be aware of differences in opinion
about flowers. One of the most controversial flowers is the pink rose:
Glorified by (most) women, hated by (most) men.
We
see many couples using pink roses for the wedding arrangements and most
of them do this in a beautiful way. It also happens, when we advise couples
about which flowers to use, that the bride and broom disgust the idea of
using those shiny girly things in their bouquets and centrepieces.
I'm not fond of using a bright pink colour to dominate the sight of the arrangement
too, but I do see that pink can give a nice tough to an arrangement as
well (and I'm not gay). Pink will represent romance, admiration and warmth.
This is what getting married is all about!
When
using pink in a bouquet you can make it as important as you want. If you
use contrasting colours the pink will stand out and dominate the sight
of the bouquet. Bright pink will dominate over white, while soft pink gives
a lovely sweet tough to it. Bright pink can look lovely next to deep red
or purple flowers.
In
the end, using too much pink can kill the bouquet, while using pink in
combination with other colours (purple, white, red or even black) can make
the arrangements chic, classy and beautiful. So always keep in mind, for
you pink-lovers, that using too much pink can erase the sight of all the
other beautiful flowers and colours. And you pink-haters: please try to
see the beauty of it and use the knowledge that your girl will absolutely
love getting a bunch of pink roses!
